In the beginning …..
There was a kitchen too small for a growing family :
The joiner Markus Berres was asked to renovate the existing kitchen with plain and simple light wood.
The choice was between ash and maple and fell to maple wood.
The next step was to find a sawmill selling this type of wood in good enough quantities.
Up in the high Corbières at the Duran sawmill sufficient wood was stocked under good conditions.
Once transported to the workshop in St André de Roquelongue Markus selected the boards to be re- sawn, trimmed, edged and planed.
He meanwhile had marked out the kitchen on his drawing board:
And designed supplementary kitchen furniture.
To continue with the different door the following steps are
executed: the grooving, the tenonning, the glueing
For each cupboard door the following steps are executed: grooving, tenonning, and glueing
The pieces can then be cut to the planned size, moulded with dovetails, the burr borders are produced and also moulded with dovetails
Drilling for the parts that are put together with dowels
A second sanding is undertaken and the parts can then be put together
